The Breeze fought hard and fast as the remnants of Hurricane Bill began to invade the DC area Saturday evening but came up just short in a wet, sloppy contest against New York, losing to the Empire 8-7. A lightning delay midway through the 2nd quarter didn’t help the momentum as the Breeze had just overcome a 4-1 deficit to tie the game at 5s. From there they almost kept pace until the 2nd delay brought an end to the game by league rules.
The Breeze fans were fantastic throughout, with most of them sticking around through the delay including quite a few of the 21+ers conveniently finding shelter under the Atlas Brew Works tent. Why not?!
The same two teams will battle again tomorrow afternoon at 2pm in Brooklyn, where the storm is apparently headed next. Good times, Mother Nature!
