When the International Olympic Committee (IOC) granted full recognition to the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) last month, they asked WFDF to develop Ultimate in Africa. WFDF had already delegated Michael Tignor to Rwanda as the coach and developer of the game, and he has been in the country since May of this year. Tignor started the first club team in Rwanda, the Kigali Ultimate Flying Gorillas. They recently competed in the first ever African Frisbee club championships, held in Uganda.
