The DC Breeze announced today that they have signed David Cranston, Nicky Spiva, and Jeff Wodatch for the 2016 season. All three players are key contributors to the DC area’s top men’s club team Truck Stop, a regular participant in the USA Ultimate club national championships.
David Cranston Cranston has been a defensive captain for Truck Stop for the past two years. He played for Team USA at this past spring’s World Beach Ultimate Championships in Dubai alongside fellow 2016 Breeze signee Alan Kolick. The two teammates helped the USA bring home the Open Division Gold Medal.Earlier this month, Cranston was named to Ultiworld’s national Top Defenders Team. | |
Nicky Spiva Spiva just completed his first season for Truck Stop after moving to the DC area from New Orleans earlier this year. As an offensive hybrid, he finished the USA Ultimate club national championships with 13 assists.Spiva also represented the USA at the 2015 World Beach Ultimate Championships in Dubai, competing in the Mixed Division with Markham Shofner (who will also play for the Breeze next season).In 2013, Spiva was an alternate for the USA World Games team that was coached by Alex “Dutchy” Ghesquiere. | |
Jeff Wodatch Since starring for George Washington University in 2010, Wodatch has become a mainstay in DC Ultimate. He has played for Truck Stop as a cutter for the past several years, and has been that club team’s offensive captain since 2013.”I’ve been watching Breeze games from the stands for a couple years now and am really excited to play in front of those fans,” said Wodatch. “I’m looking forward to being coached by Dutchy and to competing against the other teams in the East.” |
