Breeze Fall Short In Montréal

The shorthanded Breeze ran into a focused and determined Montréal squad yesterday afternoon that looked nothing like the team they beat handily last Sunday, falling to the Royal 27-22 this time. It looked like it would be a far more embarrassing score when the Royal scored to make it 20-11 late in the 3rd quarter, but the Breeze responded with a hold and two breaks to bring it back to 20-14 and then gained one more to finish with only a 5-point deficit and drop their record to 6-3. The Royal are now 4-5.

Jeff Wodatch led the team with 5 goals, followed by David Boylan-Kolchin and Matt Kerrigan with 3 each. Kerrigan dished out 7 assists to lead the team, followed by Rowan McDonnell with 4 and Wodatch with 3. Jonathan Neeley paced the team on the defensive side with 3 blocks, while Wodatch and McDonnell registered 2 each. The team registered 16 blocks on the day overall as 9 other players had at least one block.

The Breeze never looked like they had it completely together Saturday as the Royal easily put an end to DC’s five game winning streak that had included two wins over Montréal. The team will hope to right the ship and start a new streak in Ottawa today to bring their record to 7-3.
