The Breeze presented a framed #51 2016 Jersey to Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser during the opening ceremonies of last Saturday’s playoff game against the New York Empire. Mayor Bowser came to the game to formally welcome the Breeze to DC and thank the team for the ongoing work with DC Parks & Recreation to teach DC kids the sport this Summer. The #51 represents the cause for the District to become the 51st State.
Despite the hour+ rain delay, the Mayor stayed true to her word and arrived to address the crowd. Then after the game began she took in the 1st quarter from the Breeze sideline for a while and visited with fans for discussions and plenty of photo ops. The Breeze won 24-20 to move on to the Division Championship game in Toronto this Saturday.
