More about Rosewell, our featured DC Indie Band June 20…

Rosewell is a five piece alternative rock band that originally formed as RADIOFEEDBAK in 2011. Rhythm guitarist Angel Gutarra first spearheaded the band with buddy, lead guitarist Steve Koehnke. The two of them met in a reggae band in 2009 called Get Together. Though Get Together didnt last, thier love of music only grew as they embarked on continuos musical expression. It did happen, however, that things would soon take hold in their final founding member drummer Jazeb Nadeem. Over the course of a year they composed nearly 7 songs ready to debut but still needed something to give their music the edge they were looking for. So Angel quickly put together a craigslist ad and shortly thereafter found an edge in singer- song writer Asma. At the time, she was working as a doorstaff member of the famous 9:30 Club in Northwest DC. Having been exposed to some of todays best in independent music and performance, thought she had a decent enough voice and in an email, replied half baked but wholeheartedly. Fast forward about a year and a half, Radiofeedbak had developed a small following. But due to the loss of two bassists, and two drummers, founding member Jazeb and his replacement, they lost their steam. Luck would have it however, that in two audience members at their final performance as radiofeedbak, they found new bandmates. It was with this new line up with drummer Trish Smithwick and bassist John Boyd, that ROSEWELL would be born. It was then that Rosewell discovered that the true pleasure in music is in its listener, thus their motto and saying, “Because you’re in bloom and we are gardeners of rosewell.”
