National Champions Rachel Hess and Gus Norrbom return for their second year as DC Breeze interns. Over the next 12 months, the duo will be the two Arlington Intern Managers and will focus on Grassroots Marketing. Along with DC Breeze players, Rachel will also lead various youth clinics, while Gus will contribute heavily in group sales.

Rachel and Gus are two of the most well-known youth ultimate players in the DC area. Rachel is a rising junior at Washington-Lee High School (captaining the YLee Girls Ultimate Team). Gus is a rising senior leader at HB-Woodlawn Secondary Program (entering his 3rd year on the Boys Varsity Team).

This past summer, both players were starting offensive handlers on DC’s U-19 Mixed Youth Club Team, Swing Vote, which won the national championship (watch the game here). Rachel earned the team Spirit Award, while Gus threw the championship-clinching assist on universe point.

“Rachel’s and Gus’s passion for the growth of ultimate help make them tremendous role models for all athletes in the area,” said Swing Vote coach and DC Breeze player Ben Feng. “I’m confident that they’ll continue increasing exposure and awareness for the sport in both the ultimate and non-ultimate communities.”
