The DC Breeze announced today that Sarah Itoh will return for a 2nd season as Assistant Coach in 2016. Itoh rejoins the Breeze staff just in time to contribute at this weekend’s Tryouts. She arrives fresh off yet another terrific performance as a player at USAU Club Nationals where she led DC’s top women’s team Scandal with 21 goals to go along with 7 assists and 7 Ds.

“Sarah has been a top talent on the field for years, and I am thrilled to have her pedigree back on the sidelines to help Coach Dutchy guide us through the complicated pro season,” announced Breeze Managing Partner Don Grage. “She has a very strong mind for the sport, and I couldn’t be happier to have her back on our coaching staff for 2016.”

Sarah has been playing Ultimate since 2003. She started in her freshman year of college where she was part of the founding team at George Mason University. She started playing club in 2009 with Scandal Ultimate in DC, then played two years of mixed before returning to women’s ultimate with Scandal. She has been playing for them ever since including capturing two women’s club national championships.

“Coaching the Breeze alongside Dutchy and Mike (Malloy) last year was a great experience, and I’m thrilled to be back with the organization for the upcoming season,” Sarah stated. “Last season we had a great group of guys on the team and they were fun to work with, so I’m excited to see who comes back. With tryouts quickly approaching and having already taken aboard several very talented new and returning players, it’ll be really interesting to see the turnout. It might look like a completely different team this year, but I’m excited for the challenge of a new season.”
