UMBC’s annual Frozen Elephant Classic takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the UMBC campus in Baltimore, and if history is any indication it will surely prove to be a fantastic time. The Breeze will provide free Opening Day tickets for all 20 members of the winning teams on each of the two days, 40 tickets in all. Jason Pon and Joey Ricks are among the students running the event… Pon and Ricks split their time between school, UMBC Ultimate, and their 2-year internships for the DC Breeze.
Brad Scott, DC Breeze player since 2014, is a UMBC alumnus and will be playing in the tournament. But the Breeze connection doesn’t stop there… It’s rumored that at the tournament this weekend you will see the likes of 3-year Breeze players Jon Pressimone, Matt Radhe and Dan “White Hat” Selwyn, 2-year-and-counting Breezer Ben Feng, 2013 & 2015’s Glenn Poole, and 2015 players Anthony McLean, Bryant Dean, Clay Collins and Mark Flores. David Cranston is also expected to be there; he joins the Breeze for the first time in 2016.
Tournaments like this make the long DC winter and longer Breeze offseason far more tolerable. Thanks UMBC.
