The Breeze and the U.S. State Department’s Sports Diplomacy program co-hosted another international Ultimate clinic last weekend, and this time around it was a terrific group of elite girls’ basketball players from Peru visiting the DC Metro area. The girls were friendly and focused, and this made for an entertaining and productive clinic.
Breeze players Jonathan Neeley and Matthew McDonnell led the group through almost two hours of basic drills and full-court scrimmages, and the girls picked everything up quickly. Neeley and McDonnell were assisted by Breeze staff writer Libby Chamberlin and Caroline Tornquist of Arlington’s U-19 mixed national champions Swing Vote. Each of the guests will be heading home with some new core frisbee skills, a basic understanding of the rules of the sport, an official Breeze disc, and hopefully a brand new appreciation for Ultimate. Next month… Kazakhstan?
