Matt Dewhurst Named DC Breeze Director of Game Day Operations

The D.C. ultimate community got a lot tighter on Tuesday when the Breeze announced Matt Dewhurst as the new Director of Game Day Operations for the team during the 2018 season.

Dewhurst, known to many as ‘Dewey,’ was the general manager of the former Major League Ultimate franchise, the Washington D.C. Current. In his first season with the team, Dewhurst was integral in creating a unique fan-friendly game day experience and home-field atmosphere – helped by the fantastic DC Ultimate community! – that propelled the Current to an MLU Championship. It would be the team’s only postseason appearance during his three-year history with the team.

Opening Night is April 7! 2018 Breeze Schedule

As a former general manager for the Current, Dewhurst already has relationships with many current Breeze players including, Jeff Wodatch, Delrico Johnson, Lloyd Blake, David Cranston, and Eric Miner, as well as some of the Breeze support staff.

In his new role, Dewhurst will assume responsibility for the organization and execution of DC Breeze game days including scheduling, staffing, concession management, fan experience, and more.

Dewhurst steps into this role as the Breeze are moving to Catholic University of America’s Cardinal Stadium. CUA is the former home of the D.C. Current, nicknamed ‘The Dojo’ during Dewhurst’s tenure with the franchise, so Dewhurst will have the advantage of immediately utilizing knowledge and relationships from his Current days on the same campus.

Getting his start in ultimate at Salisbury University, Dewhurst was a part of the Salisbury Buzz from 2000-04. His former career stops include leadership roles with Discovery, NBC Sports, and the Travel Channel. Currently, Dewhurst resides in the D.C. Metropolitan Area with his wife Cara and 16-month-old daughter Amelia.
