The DC Breeze announced the 14 game-schedule for the upcoming 2018 season a couple weeks ago. The schedule includes two cross divisional games for the first time, including the first ever game against the Pittsburgh Thunderbirds.
The season winds are picking up as the DC Breeze held its Open Tryouts February 24th at Dunbar High School in downtown Washington, DC. More than 65 players came out in the rainy but warm enough weather for the opportunity to join the Breeze for its sixth year playing in the AUDL. The talent has increased every year at these annual tryouts, and 2018 was absolutely no exception.
For the third time in four years the Breeze finished 10-4 and earned a spot in the AUDL Playoffs. And for the second straight year, that record is good enough to earn a #2 seed and 1st round home playoff game. #3 seed Montréal Royal (9-5) will come to town August 11 for a Friday evening battle starting at 7pm. The winner of that game will head north the next morning to face the #1 seed Toronto Rush (11-3) at 1pm on Sunday, August 13 for the right to represent the East Division at AUDL Championship VI August 26-27 in Montréal. Ultiworld has placed odds on every remaining AUDL team in the quest for the 2017 AUDL Championship. The Breeze come in at 12-1, 7th best odds among the 12 playoff teams. It’s no surprise that Raleigh Flyers and Dallas Roughnecks are tied for most likely to lift the trophy — both are 3-1 favorites despite the fact that only one of them will make it to the Final Four in Montréal August 26-27.

The Breeze held their 2017 Open Tryouts yesterday on a crisp and clear day in the District of Columbia, and two things became instantly clear: the Ultimate talent in DC is rising at an incredible rate, and getting the roster down to its target level is going to require some incredibly difficult decisions over the next couple weeks.
