The Breeze beat the Montréal Royal last night, 23-20, in a hard fought match at Gallaudet University in DC under unseasonably cool conditions. The Breeze are now 4-2 and tied for 1st place with 4-time division champions Toronto Rush, with the Breeze getting the nod on both head-to-head and overall goal differential. The Royal are now 2-4.
Things did not go well for the DC Breeze in their first trip north of the border this season. Falling to the Toronto Rush 26-20 for the seventh time in a row on the road, the Breeze still have never solved the division champs in Toronto and have dropped to second place in the AUDL East standings.

Once again it was another nail-biting finish between the D.C. Breeze and the New York Empire. With a 22-21 victory, it was the fourth consecutive regular season 1-point win by the Breeze over the Empire. The win propels DC (3-1) to sole possession of first place in the East.

Returning back to division play, the D.C. Breeze needed to find consistency with a tough stretch of the schedule on deck for the team. They had a great opportunity to do so Saturday as they returned home to face the Ottawa Outlaws; a team that has yet to be a threat but always provides solid competition with two 7-7 seasons so far.
Throughout the off-season there was high anticipation for the DC Breeze to contend with the Toronto Rush for the East Division title. A season removed from four thrilling contests between the squads, perhaps it was now only a matter of time before they caught the Rush. After an eventful week of signings, the DC Breeze 2017 roster is now at its February pre-tryout target. Over the last ten days, six players have joined this year’s squad. The team is excited to welcome back a handful of returning players and add some fresh faces. This wave of signings brings the team’s roster to 20. Open Tryouts for the remaining roster positions will take place Sunday, March 5.
