DC Breeze at Toronto Rush

Ever since the end of the 2016 season, there has been one goal on the mind of DC Breeze players: take the division from the Toronto Rush. The Breeze will get that chance Sunday at 1:00pm ET when they once again take on Toronto with the East Division title in the balance.
Only one team in the East Division won their season series against the DC Breeze during the 2017 campaign. The Montréal Royal bested the Breeze by a one-goal margin after both teams won their home contest. In fact, that one loss in Montréal ended up being the determining factor for the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
Last week the Stats Analysis for the entire 2017 DC Breeze regular season was unveiled displaying the success of the top 14-18 players on the Breeze roster. Now it is time to look to how each line compared to the rest of the AUDL East Division. For the third time in four years the Breeze finished 10-4 and earned a spot in the AUDL Playoffs. And for the second straight year, that record is good enough to earn a #2 seed and 1st round home playoff game. #3 seed Montréal Royal (9-5) will come to town August 11 for a Friday evening battle starting at 7pm. The winner of that game will head north the next morning to face the #1 seed Toronto Rush (11-3) at 1pm on Sunday, August 13 for the right to represent the East Division at AUDL Championship VI August 26-27 in Montréal. Ultiworld has placed odds on every remaining AUDL team in the quest for the 2017 AUDL Championship. The Breeze come in at 12-1, 7th best odds among the 12 playoff teams. It’s no surprise that Raleigh Flyers and Dallas Roughnecks are tied for most likely to lift the trophy — both are 3-1 favorites despite the fact that only one of them will make it to the Final Four in Montréal August 26-27.
The final AUDL standings are set following the conclusion of regular season play this past weekend. In addition, with the final standings confirmed, the dates and opponents of the two Eastern Division playoff contests have been announced as well.
The 2017 AUDL regular season comes to an end this weekend. The DC Breeze will conclude their 2017 campaign on the road against the Philadelphia Phoenix this Saturday at 6:30pm.

Going through playoff scenarios is one of the most entertaining pastimes in sports. It’s no different when it comes to the AUDL. The playoff picture in the East became a bit clearer after the Toronto Rush defeated the Montreal Royal 28-20 in Toronto Saturday evening to secure their spot in the postseason, but first, second and third place are all still up for grabs with only two weeks remaining.
For the first time in franchise history, the DC Breeze have finished a regular season with a perfect home record. It is not unheard of for AUDL teams to go undefeated in front of their home crowd, a feat often reserved for those destined for top playoff seeds in the respective divisions.
The Breeze moved back up to 6th in the AUDL Power Rankings heading into 2nd of three bye weekends as Minnesota’s poor performance in Madison last weekend dropped them three places. #3 Toronto and #10 Montréal are set to duke it out Saturday for 1st place in the East, where a possible Montréal upset on the road could shake up much more than the power rankings…
