The 2017 AUDL regular season comes to an end this weekend. The DC Breeze will conclude their 2017 campaign on the road against the Philadelphia Phoenix this Saturday at 6:30pm.

First place was on the line at Hotchkiss Field on Sunday afternoon. Both teams knew it. Everyone in the stadium knew it. It just didn’t look like it. From the opening pull, the DC Breeze unleashed a dominating onslaught against the tired Toronto Rush.
The DC Breeze lost a heartbreaker in Philadelphia last night, 22-21. It was the first loss to the Phoenix(2-6) since 2013, as the Breeze (5-3) have owned the rivalry with their closest neighbor for the past three seasons. Both offenses executed well, especially in the 2nd half where the D-lines couldn’t convert the few chances they had for breaks.

The DC Breeze pulled away in the final minutes to beat the New York Empire yesterday, 28-25. The Empire (2-4) went on a 5-1 run late in the 3rd quarter to overcome a 19-15 deficit and tie the game at 21, but the Breeze (5-2) found another level of effort from that point and would not give up another break in the game.
Getting back in winning form was key for the D.C. Breeze over the weekend. With the 23-20 win over the Montreal Royal, the Breeze are now in a tie with the Toronto Rush for first in the East. The Breeze are now 3-2 after the loss to the Toronto Rush in Canada last weekend. Returning to Hotchkiss Field, the team will look to continue their impressive 3-0 start on their home turf Saturday. They face the Montréal Royal (2-3), a team only one game behind the Breeze in the standings but three full places back in a tight East Division race.
