The Nashville NightWatch announced this past Friday that Jesse Shofner would be a part of their opening day lineup, making her the first woman to make an opening day roster in the 6 year history of the AUDL.
Shofner brings a lengthy resume to the NightWatch; her five-year career with Oregon Fugue led to a number of awards, including the 2013 and 2015 National Championships, All-Region and All-American recognition, and Ultiworld’s 2015 Offensive POTY award. Shofner also played a big role on the 2015 and 2016 All-Star Ultimate Tours and traveled to the Philippines in 2015 as a part of Team E.R.I.C. in a tour with Ditch Media. She is no stranger to DC either; Shofner played with DC’s elite women’s club team Scandal for the 2016 series.

Older brother Markham is in his second year with the Breeze and is looking forward to seeing the AUDL gain another Shofner:
“As a big fan of the NightWatch (hometown team), and a bigger fan of Jesse, this is an exciting pairing that I can’t wait to see. I’m sure it’ll come with some adjustments, but I have little doubt that Jesse can provide value on the field. She’s always found a way before, and her grit is contagious.”
Geography plays the spoiler between a potential match-up between the two siblings – Nashville is a member of the South Division, meaning we won’t see a regular season match-up. However, Championship Weekend could see the two teams face each other. See you in Montreal, NightWatch?
