The Breeze beat them 32-21 on Opening Day, then the Rush took care of business with authority May 13, 26-20 in Toronto. The DC Breeze lost a heartbreaker in Philadelphia last night, 22-21. It was the first loss to the Phoenix(2-6) since 2013, as the Breeze (5-3) have owned the rivalry with their closest neighbor for the past three seasons. Both offenses executed well, especially in the 2nd half where the D-lines couldn’t convert the few chances they had for breaks.

The DC Breeze pulled away in the final minutes to beat the New York Empire yesterday, 28-25. The Empire (2-4) went on a 5-1 run late in the 3rd quarter to overcome a 19-15 deficit and tie the game at 21, but the Breeze (5-2) found another level of effort from that point and would not give up another break in the game.
Two local high school girls’ teams are going to the first annual High School National Invite June 3-4! Want to help them get there? They’re both well along the way toward their goals, but they still need additional funding.

The New York Empire return to DC June 4 for a pivotal AUDL East match-up in the quest for playoffs and home field advantage. Opening pull is 5:30pm. This rivalry just keeps getting better, with yet another 1-point game in the history books on May 6. The teams also meet in New York May 27 for the first leg of a home and home series across consecutive weekends.
