The Breeze completed their 2017 extended roster with the announcement of 14 additional players today. It’s a mix of young and veteran talent including one 18-year old still in high school (Malks) and two who return to the Breeze after very successful 2014 campaigns followed by a 2-year hiatus (Solis and Nam).
After an eventful week of signings, the DC Breeze 2017 roster is now at its February pre-tryout target. Over the last ten days, six players have joined this year’s squad. The team is excited to welcome back a handful of returning players and add some fresh faces. This wave of signings brings the team’s roster to 20. Open Tryouts for the remaining roster positions will take place Sunday, March 5.

The DC Breeze have announced that cutter Delrico Johnson will join the team in 2017. Known for his highlight reel plays and incredible feats of athleticism, Johnson is a huge addition to the Breeze roster. Multiple times Johnson crashed into ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays for gravity-defying grabs, making him a superstar in the ultimate community.
Breeze Cutter Brad Scott has been a pillar of both passion and talent for the Breeze over the past three seasons, and he’s only one year into his latest 3-year contract. Not only will you see Brad come up with some fantastic layout Ds and Os at the most important game moments here, but you can even catch him invoking the integrity rule at 0:43.
After a breakout first season, John Agan will rejoin the DC Breeze in 2017. Agan reliably progressed the disc as a tireless cutter throughout his 151 points on the field, not to mention the 11 goals, 5 assists and 3 blocks he produced.
Tyler Monroe, a 2016 rookie, has signed a new contract with the DC Breeze for the 2017 season. One of the squad’s youngest yet most impactful members, Monroe first began playing ultimate in Seattle as a middle schooler and hasn’t put down the disc since. The DC Breeze announced today that defensive cutter Matthew “Rowan” McDonnell will return to the Breeze roster for the 2017 season. Over the course of the 2016 season, McDonnell played an astonishing 336 points and scored 21 goals for the Breeze. He also captained the 2016 squad along with Brad Scott and Nicky Spiva.
Breeze veteran David Bolyan-Kolchin has signed on for another season with the DC Breeze. The cutter will don jersey #4 for his third season with the District’s AUDL representatives.
Markham Shofner, who first signed with the DC Breeze in 2016, will begin the second half of his 2-year contract next April. The 27-year- old handler from Nashville certainly earned his Breeze stripes during his first season with the team, and made his presence well known on the field.
