Soccer Coaches from Tajikistan Take On Ultimate
A group of women’s soccer coaches from Tajikistan visited the DC area in December, and once again the Breeze coordinated with the U.S. State Department to add Ultimate to their busy schedule.

On the last Friday of 2016, the DC area Ultimate community congregated in Chantilly, Virginia for the Northern VA Indoor Ultimate Championships. 14 teams attended, representing all ages and geographic areas: there were multiple teams of High School players from Arlington, a team from Fairfax, a team composed of many University of Maryland alums, and a team with many Baltimore club players.
The DC Breeze announced today that defensive cutter Matthew “Rowan” McDonnell will return to the Breeze roster for the 2017 season. Over the course of the 2016 season, McDonnell played an astonishing 336 points and scored 21 goals for the Breeze. He also captained the 2016 squad along with Brad Scott and Nicky Spiva.
The DC Breeze have been hard at work this off-season hosting a number of clinics around the greater Washington metropolitan area. Last week, Woodrow Wilson High School and Wilson High School Ultimate Coach Dave Ohls hosted Breeze players and staff as Physical Education guest instructors. The volunteers spent three days at Wilson High School teaching Ultimate skills and techniques in a clinic format to six separate P.E. classes.
The DC Breeze are excited to announce a first-of-its-kind event to showcase young female talent in the Washington, D.C. area: the DMV Women’s College All Stars vs. the DC Women’s Club Young Alums. Inspired by the All-Star Ultimate Tour that garnered significant attention in 2015 and 2016, this showcase game will feature top players from eight DC, Maryland, and Virginia colleges facing off against recent college graduates from local club…
Bellies full of turkey and all the fixins did not stop nearly 70 ultimate players from descending upon the Polo Fields the Saturday after Thanksgiving for the first inaugural Layouts and Leftovers hat tournament. Players from D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and even a few out-of-towners eagerly braved the elements on a chilly, breezy morning.

All-Star Ultimate Tour made their way to Rockville, Maryland to face elite women’s club team DC Scandal August 8. Scandal beat the All-Star Tour team with a final score of 15-12 at Richard Montgomery High School. From the start of the game, both teams had a steady back-and-forth scoring until All-Star Tour’s first break of the game that made the score 5-3. Breeze Head Coach Alex Ghesquiere will lead top local women’s club team Scandal in a friendly against the traveling Women’s All-Star Ultimate Tour Monday night in Rockville.
